SARRALLE will participate in the development of the new Meltshop of UMB Steel s.r.l. in Oțelu Roșu, Romania (Europe), contributing key technological solutions as part of an ambitious industrial program aimed at establishing a modern, energy-efficient steelmaking facility aligned with the green steel and sustainable transition.

Following its acquisition by UMB Steel s.r.l., a steel manufacturer based in Bucharest and part of the largest construction company in Romania and a leading European group, the plant will resume operations after 12 years, combining the value of existing industrial assets with the implementation of advanced steelmaking technologies to ensure high productivity and sustainable operations.

Within this framework, SARRALLE will supply and integrate key mechanical, electrical and automation systems for the new Meltshop, supporting an annual production capacity of approximately 700,000 tons of rebars, compact coils and wire rod for infrastructure and construction applications.

At the heart of the facility, the Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) will incorporate KR-MELT® , the newest scrap preheating technology developed by SARRALLE and KR Tec and operating with vertical scrap preheating and continuous feeding within a fully airtight system. This configuration enables the complete capture of fumes and cold dust, significantly improving environmental performance.

The integrated system enables substantial energy savings while optimizing productivity relative to the required energy input, making it a highly effective solution in terms of operational efficiency and sustainability. This technology is currently attracting strong global interest and is increasingly recognized as a growing trend in modern steelmaking.

In addition, enhanced secondary metallurgy capabilities including new ladle furnaces and vacuum degasser, combined with the SARRALLE Bluesky Plant high-capacity fume extraction system, will further increase process flexibility, improve steel quality control and reinforce overall environmental compliance.

This project also represents an important milestone for SARRALLE, particularly in a high-potential country such as Romania, where significant opportunities exist for industrial growth. SARRALLE participará en el desarrollo de la nueva acería de UMB Steel s.r.l. en Oțelu Roșu, Rumanía (Europa), aportando soluciones tecnológicas clave como parte de un ambicioso programa industrial orientado a establecer una instalación siderúrgica moderna, energéticamente eficiente y alineada con la transición hacia el acero verde y la sostenibilidad.

Tras su adquisición por UMB Steel s.r.l., un fabricante de acero con sede en Bucarest y parte del mayor grupo constructor de Rumanía y de un importante grupo europeo, la planta reanudará sus operaciones tras 12 años, combinando el valor de los activos industriales existentes con la implementación de tecnologías avanzadas de producción de acero para garantizar una alta productividad y una operación sostenible.

En este contexto, SARRALLE suministrará e integrará sistemas clave mecánicos, eléctricos y de automatización para la nueva acería, dando soporte a una capacidad de producción anual de aproximadamente 700.000 toneladas de corrugado, bobinas compactas y alambrón para aplicaciones en infraestructuras y construcción.

En el núcleo de la instalación, el Horno de Arco Eléctrico (EAF) incorporará KR-MELT®, la última tecnología de precalentamiento de chatarra desarrollada por SARRALLE y KR Tec y que opera con precalentamiento vertical y alimentación continua dentro de un sistema completamente estanco. Esta configuración permite la captación total de humos y polvo frío, mejorando significativamente el rendimiento medioambiental.

El sistema integrado permite importantes ahorros energéticos al tiempo que optimiza la productividad en relación con la energía requerida, convirtiéndose en una solución altamente eficaz en términos de eficiencia operativa y sostenibilidad. Esta tecnología está despertando un gran interés a nivel global y se consolida como una tendencia creciente en la siderurgia moderna.

Además, las capacidades mejoradas de metalurgia secundaria, incluyendo nuevos hornos cuchara y un desgasificador al vacío, junto con el sistema de captación de humos de alta capacidad SARRALLE Bluesky Plant, incrementarán la flexibilidad del proceso, mejorarán el control de la calidad del acero y reforzarán el cumplimiento medioambiental global.
