SARRALLE GROW announces the 2 winners of its II edition.

Despite the situation of economic and social uncertainty currently experiencing worldwide, SARRALLE continues to commit itself to the well-being of all its stakeholders, valuing the criteria of social responsibility agreed by the group.

The II Edition of the SARRALLE GROW scholarships, aimed at balancing the insufficient presence of women in managerial and decision-making positions in the Basque industrial network, once again contributes to the training of future directors by contributing with € 1,000 to both scholarship holders yearly. The winners in this edition are:

  • Alaitz Txapartegi (19, Azpeitia), who this year begins to take the third year of the double degree in Business Administration and Management + the Degree in Law at the University of Deusto in Donostia.

  • and Natalia Sebastian (18, Vitoria), who has just started her double degree in Business Administration and Management + Computer Engineering at the University of the Basque Country.

Due to the current situation, the award ceremony will take place on Thursday, September 17 at 4:30 p.m. in a virtual meeting in which we will have the opportunity to talk with both candidates and exchange views on what this opportunity has meant for them.

CONCLUSIONS OF THE SELECTION PROCESS

The rules for granting this opportunity, especially the double-degree qualification, has been a great limitation in the selection of the candidates with the best grades. Despite a 20% increase in the number of applicants compared to the 1st Edition, only 20% of the applicants were or were planning to pursue double-degree university studies in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) careers, and in ADE + another specialty.

The spirit of the SARRALLE GROW scholarships is not only committed to financing part of the tuition for the academic year at the university that the winners choose. If not that of empowering women in their professional career, from university to being part of the labor market.

For this reason, we offer the possibility of paid summer internships in our corporate and engineering departments, in order to allow during their academic training, access to professional reality through our company, in addition to supporting in the preparation of the final degree project. It is an unbeatable opportunity to meet future professionals who will be ready to join the job market in a short period of time.

The presence of women in STEM studies is only 28% and only 45% of those who enroll obtain their degree. Aware that they are the careers of the future, SARRALLE wants to recognize those women who seek to gain a place in the spheres of power and promote equal pay and employment in all aspects.

Although it is true that most of the candidates had a social awareness that supported the women empowerment, this year we noticed that for many of them economic reasons were the main interest in  SARRALLE GROW scholarships.

Let's not forget that the purpose of the scholarship is to train strong and independent women who know how to face future challenges and are not afraid of finding themselves in situations that are not familiar to them. In short, getting out of their comfort zone, serving as training for the not-so-distant future.
